Have you thought about getting a firewall to block the DDoS temporarily - say if they exceed a certain amount of b/w. You could setup a donation button for it? Just a thought!

Well britt, Imo you should change your VPS company because the server has had a lot of high profile DDoSing lately.. you need more protection.
