Halloween Event - ancient boom - 10-28-2012
For the people disappointed this was a repeat of an event, Travis has been extremely busy with coding v8. Coding an entire new event would set back the release of v8 even longer. People are already frustrated that v8 hasn't been released yet, so it's easier to do a repeat of a past event and instead work on fixing bugs in v8.
I don't know about you, but I'd prefer a stable v8, which lasts forever, to be released rather than a one-time event.
